Privacy Policy

This policy explains what information CodelyTeam collects when you use the platform, why we collect it, and how it's stored. CodelyTeam is a place for developers to chat, form groups, share screens, post problems and solutions, and showcase projects — the data below exists to make that work.

1. Information we collect

When you register or sign in, we collect:

• Account details: your email address, username, and password (or, if you sign in with Google, the profile info Google shares with us — name, email, and avatar).
• Profile content: your profile picture, XP, points, theme choice, Discord handle (if you add one), and online/offline status.
• Content you create: chat messages, posts, comments, problems and solutions you submit, group and branch names, code snippets, and any images or files you upload.
• Usage and device data: basic technical information like IP address and browser type, collected automatically for security and to keep the service running (e.g. reCAPTCHA verification, rate limiting).
• Contact form submissions: if you use our Contact Us page, we collect your name, email address, and message.

2. How we use your information

• To create and secure your account, including email verification codes and Google sign-in.
• To operate core features: chat, groups, screen sharing, problem/solution boards, the community feed, and friend connections.
• To calculate and award XP and points, and to enforce daily submission limits.
• To respond to messages you send through the Contact Us page.
• To keep the platform safe — detecting abuse, enforcing bans and mutes, and preventing spam.

3. Where your data is stored

CodelyTeam is built on Supabase, which provides our database, authentication, file storage, and realtime infrastructure. Your account data, messages, and uploaded files are stored in Supabase's Postgres database and storage buckets, protected by row-level security policies that limit who can read or change each piece of data. Verification codes are emailed via a Google Apps Script mail relay and are not stored longer than needed to complete sign-in.

4. What other users can see

Profiles, usernames, online status, XP/points, group and branch content, messages you post, and community posts are visible to other users of the platform as part of how CodelyTeam works. Direct messages are visible only to the sender and recipient. Contact form submissions are private and go only to the CodelyTeam team.

5. Cookies and local storage

CodelyTeam uses your browser's local session storage to keep you signed in and to remember light preferences like your theme. We don't use third-party advertising trackers beyond the ad banner's own standard delivery (see Section 8).

6. Data retention and deletion

We keep your account data for as long as your account is active. You can delete your account at any time from your profile settings, which removes your profile and associated content from our active database. Some records — such as messages other people can see as part of shared conversations — may persist in a de-identified or historical form where deleting them would break the experience for other users.

7. Children's privacy

CodelyTeam is intended for developers and is not directed at children. We don't knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, contact us and we'll remove it.

8. Advertising

CodelyTeam displays ads via Google AdSense. Google may use cookies to serve ads based on your visits to this and other sites. You can learn more about how Google uses this data and manage your ad preferences through Google's own privacy tools.

9. Your choices

• You can update your profile, avatar, and online-status visibility at any time from your account settings.
• You can request a copy of your data or ask us to delete it by contacting us.
• You can delete your account directly from the app, which removes your profile data.

10. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy as CodelyTeam changes. We'll update the "Last updated" date above when we do. Continued use of CodelyTeam after a change means you accept the updated policy.
